This weeks Pick of the Week is an entire range! ESV Scripture Journals.

They are available individually or in boxed sets. Every book of the Bible individually bound, with the English Standard Version text on one side and a page for note taking on the opposite side throughout.

There is also the Illuminated Scripture Journal With the beautiful gold ink illustations on the blank pages highlighting parts of the text. Individual books range in price from £4.50 to £9.99 and the boxed sets are £79.99 for the New Testament set, £159.99 for the Old Testament set.

You can use the Scripture Journal in whatever way suits you; copy Scripture to help you memorize it, write notes, or prayers, study with others or individually, reflect on the text artistically, or like Andrew use it to study and prepare for talks or sermons. This week we thought we'd show you some helps to go alongside your Bible reading. I've picked one for the children and one for adults.

Pictured here are 'The Barbour Bible Reference Companion' by George W Knight and Rayburn W Ray, published by Barbour. And for the children 'Look Inside Bible Times' by Lois Rock and Anthony Lewis, published by Lion.

The Bible Barbour Bible Reference Companion has an A-Z section to help you find out about anything from Aaron to Zuzim, notes on Bible customs and curiosities written in a book by book format and a beautiful full colour map section to help you understand where things in the Bible text are happening. Look inside Bible Times is a Lift the Flap Discovery book for children. This takes a child through Abraham in Canaan, the people of Israel in Egypt, Moses and the Tabernacle, the promised land, a Kingdom and a city, the Assyrian attack, Babylon, and Jerusalem in the time of Jesus. (a second book takes you through the time of Jesus) Helpfully gives a look into what life was like throughout Bible times for the people living then. Simple explanations of words and colourful illustrations means children (and probably adults reading with them!) are learning without noticing. Priced at £9.99

We would like to introduce you to the New Living Translation (NLT) New Believers Bible this week. We think this looks a great gift for, funnily enough, a new believer! Pictured here the hard back with dust jacket priced £23.99 and New Testament paperback priced £6.50.

Inside alongside the easy language of the New Living Translation there are helpful sections; 'Cornerstones' covering the basics of the Christian faith, 'Fist Steps' to help you know God and his plan for life, 'Off and Running' helps apply the Bible to your life, and 'Big Questions' tackling difficult issues a new believer needs to deal with. There are also hints on how to study the Bible, a one year reading plan, a list of well known Bible stories and where to find them, memory verses, prophesies about Jesus, a glossary of Christian terms and a topical index and even space to make notes at the back. I think this would be a great gift for a new believer of any age.

It may be Indepenence Day, but for us its independents day as your local independent Bible Bookshop - Life re-opens its doors after a three month break due to COVID19.

We are very excited to be re-opening Life Bible Bookshop this coming Saturday 4th July. And whilst we look forward to seeing our dear old friends and familiar faces we understand that for some staying at home is still the better option.

We will continue to take your orders and requests by phone, email and messenger. Also please bear in mind that we are not able to offer tea and coffee or the seating of The Living Room at this time. Because of the size and shape of the shop we will only be able to have 2 customers at a time and some stock will be available on request rather than to browse freely for now.
